I am a mathematician and artificial intelligence researcher who specializes in natural language processing, interpretability, and training large language models. Currently I am the Executive Director of EleutherAI, before which I was at Booz Allen Hamilton.

Over the past several years my work has focused on making cutting edge AI technologies more widely accessible through supporting the release of several of the world's most powerful generative models such as GPT-NeoX, BLOOM, VQGAN-CLIP, and OpenFold. My primary goal is to ensure we live in a wold in which academics, auditors, and non-profit researchers can study large scale AI technologies without partnering with the corporations that sell them for profit.
